SUMMARY OF THE POSING TIPS:
- Get comfortable in front of the camera: practice at home with a camera or aĀ phone to explore your best angles and looks;
- Find your best features and move your face accordingly;
- Donāt turn your face to any extremes (up, down or sides);
- Keep your face relaxed, any tension is very visible in the photos;
- āSmizeā, thinking positive things without smiling will lift your face and make it look welcoming andĀ engagingĀ in the photos;
- Use your hands, but keep them elegant, fingers slightly bent in every joint;
And some extra tips from me:
- Donāt show the photographer the back of your handĀ or the palm, always try to keep the pinky towards the camera;
- BendĀ your wrist in or out: when aĀ forearm is parallel to the hand,Ā it looks like a bulky straight lineĀ in the frame ā not elegant, not feminine, not interesting;
- Donāt do āclaw fingersā; donāt dig your nails into your face(unless itās an edgy look and the ideaĀ behind the shoot); avoid āmilkmanā hands;
- Donāt cross your hands, so that your thumbs are facing the camera: it looks awkward, unnatural and screams āamateurā;
- Synchronize your blinking with flashes, blink after the flashes fire: flash > blink, flash > blink;
- Donāt change a pose too fast and too drastically, wait for the photographer to give you his or her direction;
- If youāre shooting closeup or head-and-shoulders beauty, your every move should be in tiny increments, so that the photographer has a chance to fine-tune your pose, because he or she is the one who sees what the potential of your current pose is.
Hope this helps you and your model at your next beauty shoot!
